Art & Movement Retreat
As a creative wellbeing facilitator, I collaborate with retreat spaces, yoga teachers, and other wellbeing facilitators to design and deliver art-based retreat experiences worldwide.
My work blends contemporary art practice, Japanese ink and calligraphy, movement, and reflective processes to create grounded, meaningful experiences.
If you are a retreat host or facilitator looking to enrich your offering with a creative dimension, I would love to connect.

October 3rd-8th 2026
Mill Space, Almería, Spain
In Autumn 2026, I will be co-hosting an Art & Movement Retreat in collaboration with a beautiful retreat space Mill Space in southern Spain. This six-nights / five-day experience will gently weave together contemporary art practice, Japanese ink and calligraphy, reflective journaling, movement, swimming, nature, and shared rituals. Designed as a space to slow down and reconnect, the retreat offers time to create, move, breathe, and simply be. More details will be shared soon. If this speaks to you, I warmly invite you to get in touch.

My Offerings
Japanese Healing Calligraphy

A guided experience using brush, ink, and simple words such as heart, body, and love. Through repetition, touch, and the quiet rhythm of the brush, participants enter a grounded and meditative state. The scent of ink, the movement of the wrist, and the shared energy in the room create a deeply calming practice.
Memory Collage

Participants create personal collages using photographs, fragments of text, and layered materials. This process allows memories to surface gently and be reassembled visually, creating new meaning through composition and texture.
Movement Art

A fusion of movement and mark-making. The body becomes the starting point for creative expression, translating motion, breath, and sensation into visual form. No dance experience is needed. The focus is presence, not performance.
70% Letting-Go Ritual

Online / In Person
A guided clearing process designed to help you release up to 70% of one chosen space in your home. This work goes beyond organisation and supports deep emotional shift.
You will learn how to consciously say goodbye to objects that carry past identities, memories, or attachments, using simple Japanese-inspired rituals of gratitude and purification.
As physical space opens, mental clarity follows. This practice supports transition, renewal, and stepping into the next version of yourself.
Art Mentoring by Sonoko Obuchi

Online / In Person
One-to-one or small group mentoring designed to support creative growth with clarity and honesty. Drawing from over 20 years of experience as an artist and educator, I help participants deepen their practice and trust their own voice.
Japanese Tea Ceremony

A simplified and accessible tea ritual introducing the principles of presence, respect, and attention to detail. Preparing and sharing matcha becomes a quiet moment of connection within the retreat setting.
Site Specific Installation

Collaborative artwork created in response to the retreat environment. Participants work together to produce a temporary installation that reflects the landscape, architecture, and shared experience of the group.
Process Art

An emphasis on the act of making rather than the final result. Participants are encouraged to explore materials freely, allowing intuition and experimentation to guide the work.
Inner Child Art

Playful and instinctive art-making that reconnects participants with early creative impulses. Through colour, texture, and imagination, this session invites curiosity and freedom without judgment.
Art Journal Making

Participants create a handmade journal at the beginning of the retreat, which becomes a personal space for reflection, sketches, writing, and visual exploration throughout the experience.
Embroidery Healing

A slow, meditative stitching practice using thread as a tool for reflection and repair. Through repetitive hand movement and quiet focus, participants experience the calming rhythm of embroidery while symbolically mending, connecting, or honouring personal stories.
Nature Sculpture

A sculptural practice created directly within the natural environment. Using found materials such as branches, stones, leaves, or earth, participants respond to the landscape and build temporary forms that honour place, impermanence, and collective presence.
Music Drawings

An intuitive drawing session guided by sound. Participants respond visually to rhythm, tone, and emotion, allowing music to influence line, movement, and composition. The result is an expressive and immediate translation of sound into form.
