大渕園子 | SONOKO OBUCHIMultimedia designer / Multi-dimentional artist
Born in 1982 in Fukuoka, Japan, Sonoko Obuchi pursued her artistic journey in the UK, completing a BA in Spatial Design at University of The Arts London in 2005. She was appointed as the first Artist in Residence at Historic Royal Palaces.
As a multimedia artist and visual storyteller, Sonoko's creative endeavors have left a significant mark. She ventured into diverse realms, from designing sets for the Standon Calling boutique music festival and pantomime shows at Millfield Theatre in London, to contributing as an assistant stylist for Gorillaz's 'Strobelite' music video.
Sonoko's artistic flair extends to her collaborations in the fashion industry, where she crafted brand characters and illustrations for esteemed names like Anna Lou of London, garnering attention in publications like Grazia and The Guardian.
Her solo exhibition 'POP JAPAN' in 2017 at The Dugdale Centre, London, received immense acclaim, prompting an extension due to its popularity.
Recently, Sonoko's work on Haruki Murakami's 'Sputnik Sweetheart' theatre production at Arcola Theatre, London, showcased her talent in creating captivating animation content, earning her a nomination for Offies awards 2024 Video Design.
Sonoko's artistry transcends boundaries, capturing the essence of identity, relationships, and intangible narratives through her [theatrical designs], [animations], and [music videos].
Sonoko currently resides in the UK with her family.

2007年 フリーランスのデザイナーとしてロンドンのブティックやカフェのデザインを手がける傍らホームレス支援チャリティー団体の持つ ギャラリーのキュレーターを努める
2007年 イギリスでの功績を認められ天皇皇后両陛下訪英の際に在留邦人御接見へ招かれ、皇后陛下とイギリスでの活動や生活についてお話 させていただく
2008年 ミュージックフェスティバルSTANDON CALLINGのステージデザイナー及びアートディレクターに就任、現在まで計4年デザインを 務めている（同時期に娘出産）
2008年 ジュエリー会社ANNA LOU OF LONDONのキャラクターデザインを手がける（計4年）
2009年 HISTORIC ROYAL PALACESでの自身の作品がお城の永久所蔵品になる
