The Cafe Arlington project needed to be completed in only 5 weeks. It was actually achieved in 4 weeks. I had to re-design and refurbish the café bar whilst remaining open to the public for business as usual. The theme of the café bar interior is “Dominican Republic meets London Urban”. The influence for this came from the café’s coffee beans, which are imported from the Dominican Republic as Fairtrade produce. Colourfully painted timber structures and many green shades of natural vegetation are often seen in the countryside of the Dominican Republic. Outside you will also find our Ugandan themed garden. Uganda is also an exporter of Fairtrade coffee. Café Arlington provides a range of organic, non-GM and fair-trade products. We also host live music and other events. All of our profits are reinvested into Novas’ services to increase access to education, work and training initiatives for homeless, ex-homeless and other excluded individuals.
